Motional was founded in 2017 in response to the growing need to provide more accessible tools and support for time-pressured educators to better support the Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health of the young people in their care.
Our team has expanded steadily over the years to support the increasing number of client users; Motional is now being used by over a thousand organisations, by tens of thousands of practitioners, supporting a hundred thousand children and young people across the UK.
We are rewarded daily by the knowledge that our online tool and support services make such a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.
Neil is the founding Director of Motional, he is responsible for the creation of all the tools and drives all the technical development. He frequently uses words like ‘algorithm’ and ‘papercuts’ that we pretend to understand....and drinks coffee. In his spare time he’s usually wet – either sailing or paddling! Neil has a particular interest in neurodiversity and ‘the outdoors’ as a driver of wellbeing.
Lou is the Director with responsibility for ensuring the Motional family get the very best experience and use out of the tools! As well as being the head of support, Lou is a member of the team who ensures jobs get finished! In her spare time Lou is passionate about music, family and the outdoors’ Lou’s particular focus is on universal approaches and stopping children falling through the gaps!
Rich leads on customer engagement, content, and innovation. As well as being a Director, his primary role is to understand the needs of users, find the solution and use that to shape the future of Motional. He drinks even more coffee than Neil and occasionally might mention that he’s from Cornwall and lives near the beach! Rich is particularly interested in the intersection between leadership, whole-school change and emotional wellbeing outcomes and is a Chartered Fellow of the CMI.
As Office Manager, Tracey directs all the important background work including supporting users with account setup and maintenance, uploads, subscription changes and invoicing. Tracey is a family-orientated mum to five and therefore has no spare time!
Guy keeps the Motional website in check and assists Neil with the technical development of the Motional platform. When not sitting in front of a computer screen, Guy likes to beat his family at board games enjoy board games with his family, play trumpet with his band and go Kitesurfing.
